Ingredients

    Instructions

    Step 1: Marinate the Chicken

    1. Gather Your Ingredients:

      • Chicken: 3-4 chicken breasts (about 600g), cut into bite-sized pieces.
      • Marinade: 150g natural yogurt, 2 tablespoons tikka masala curry paste, 2 crushed garlic cloves, and a thumb-sized piece of grated ginger.
    2. Prepare the Bowl:

      • Find a large mixing bowl.
      • Make sure it’s clean and dry.
    3. Add Chicken to the Bowl:

      • Place the bite-sized chicken pieces into the bowl.
    4. Add Marinade Ingredients:

      • Pour in 150g of natural yogurt.
      • Add 2 tablespoons of tikka masala curry paste.
      • Add 2 crushed garlic cloves and the grated ginger.
    5. Mix Everything:

      • Use a spoon or your hands to thoroughly mix the ingredients until the chicken is well coated. Make sure each piece is covered in the marinade.
    6. Marinate:

      • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid.
      • Let it marinate for at least 20 minutes at room temperature.
      • For best results, refrigerate overnight. Just remember to keep it covered!

Step 2: Prepare for Air Frying

    1. Preheat the Air Fryer:

      • Turn on your air fryer and set it to 180°C. Let it heat up for a few minutes while you prepare the skewers.
    2. Prepare Skewers:

      • Get 4 to 8 skewers (wooden or metal).
      • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 10 minutes to prevent burning.
    3. Thread the Chicken:

      • Take the marinated chicken and carefully thread the pieces onto the skewers. Leave a little space between each piece for even cooking.
      • If your air fryer is small, use 8 shorter skewers or cut the long ones in half.
    4. Cook the Chicken:

      • Place the skewers in the air fryer basket.
      • Cook for 10-15 minutes, turning them halfway through for even cooking.
      • If cooking in pieces instead of skewers, place them directly in the air fryer and cook for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway.

    Step 3: Warm the Naans

    1. Warm the Naans:
      • Take 2 large naans from the package.
      • You can microwave them for 20-30 seconds to soften them.
      • Alternatively, splash a bit of water on them and toast in a pan over medium heat for a few minutes until warm.

    Step 4: Serve

    1. Assemble Your Dish:

      • Place the warmed naans on serving plates.
      • Top each naan with the cooked chicken skewers.
    2. Add Toppings:

      • Sprinkle some chopped coriander over the top for freshness.
      • Drizzle with extra yogurt if desired.
    3. Serve with Accompaniments:

      • Offer your choice of sides, such as:
        • Mango chutney
        • Lime pickle
        • Diced cucumber
        • Raita (yogurt sauce)
        • Crumpled bhaji (crispy onion fritters)

    Recipe Tip

If you have leftover marinade, heat it in a saucepan until it’s very hot. Drizzle this over the kebabs just before serving. Make sure to cook it thoroughly, as it was used with raw chicken.
